Original release date: June 1962
Re-release date (Orin Keepnews Edition): March 27th 2007
Take the rhythm section of Miles Davis' first great quintet (Wynton Kelly (piano), Paul Chambers (bass), Jimmy Cobb (drums)), add the great improviser Johnny Griffin (tenor saxophone), front the show with the guitar genius of Wes Montgomery and place this in front of an appreciative jazz audience (at jazz club Tsubo in Berkeley one summer in 1962) and you have the makings of a great jazz record, now re-released in remastered form and sounding every bit as if you might have been there.
Stand out tracks are the opener "Full House" and "Blue 'n' Boogie" where Wes Montgomery shows his easy mastery of the dynamics of jazz guitar to perfection.
A very accomplished album, highly recommended.
