I'm playing "Crisis" in my college jazz combo, and while I like listening to the tune, I'm having a hard time enjoying playing it (modal jazz is still going over my head, I'll be honest), so I decided to research it a little, and I found your blog. Even just knowing the idea it's based on (the Cuban Missile Crisis) Steffenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02356648651333740565noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13588015.post-8341700266007332072008-06-22T15:47:00.000+00:002008-06-22T15:47:00.000+00:00Thanks. The November 30 1962 date is taken from from the back cover of the Blue RVG release of the album but I notice that the back page of the inner booklet gives Aug 21 1961! How often do Blue Note make errors like this? So, I've also changed the cited recording Seb Kirbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04720899736319301356noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13588015.post-3422883758291381102008-06-20T03:03:00.000+00:002008-06-20T03:03:00.000+00:00Sorry to nitpick, but we may as well try to get th...Sorry to nitpick, but we may as well try to get things correct. Other sources suggest that the recording date for this recording was Aug 21 1961; so, only a few months after Olé Coltrane (which also included Art Davis - not Art Taylor)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13588015.post-9986928929421715142008-06-04T18:28:00.000+00:002008-06-04T18:28:00.000+00:00It's good to get feedback like this. The text has b...It's good to get feedback like this.

The text has been updated.

Thanks

100 Greatest Jazz AlbumsSeb Kirbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04720899736319301356noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13588015.post-14723640461305953352008-06-04T02:49:00.000+00:002008-06-04T02:49:00.000+00:00I like the review, but I'd like to make a correcti...I like the review, but I'd like to make a correction to point about Birdlike being named after Parker. It's actually named after Donald Byrd, and that's why it is spelled with a y on some lead sheets and recordings.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
