Featuring the same band as the excellent 2002 release "Allegory", guitarist Adam Rogers' complex use of time signature changes and challenging writing get the best out of Chris Potter whose tenor sax playing marks him out as one the major talents at work today. The tiny Criss Cross label is airing the best of the up and coming players on the New York jazz scene with just about all of their releases (they release up to 12 per year) worthy of close attention. "Apparitions" is no exception.
